File Sniff helps you understand your files while keeping their contents on your device. Here’s the short version of how we handle privacy. For the details, read our privacy policy.

Your files stay with you

The Mac, iPhone and iPad apps analyse files on your device. Our free website tools process files in your browser. We don’t receive the files you check or their contents as part of that analysis.

Sharing exports, opening external checks or uploading a file to another service is your choice. Those services handle information under their own policies.

You control usage sharing

We collect usage information and crash reports to understand how File Sniff is used and improve reliability. This can include device information and identifiers that connect usage and purchase records, but not the contents of your files.

Usage sharing is on by default. Turn it off in Settings › Privacy › Share anonymous usage data. Purchases keep working. Previously queued analytics may still be delivered; the full policy explains the details.

We don’t sell your information or share it for targeted advertising.

Purchases and support

There’s no File Sniff account to create. Apple handles payments, and our purchase services use transaction information to unlock and restore Pro. We don’t receive your payment card details.

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send. Support emails from the app also include technical and purchase diagnostics to help us troubleshoot.

This website

We use cookies and analytics to understand website visits, and hosting and security services to keep the site running. These are separate from the local processing of files in our browser tools.
